What is thermal cutouts?

Thermal cutouts, also known as thermal fuses or thermal links, are electrical safety devices that protect electronic or electrical devices from overheating and potential damage or fire caused by excessive heat. They work by interrupting current flow in the event of overheating and preventing further heating until the cause of overheating is rectified. The device consists of a metal component, typically made of alloy wire, that melts when subjected to elevated temperatures and opens the circuit to cut off power. Once the thermal cutout operates, it needs to be replaced as it is a one-time use device. Thermal cutouts can be used in a wide variety of applications, including HVAC systems, power supplies, motors, and transformers, among others. They are essential safety components used in appliances and other electrical systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.
